Description:
The M9 is a semiautomatic, magazine fed, recoil operated, double action pistol, chambered for the 9mm cartridge. The M9 enhances lethality and survivability in close combat situations via a pistol with rail-attachment capabilities. The M9 is the primary sidearm of crew served weapon crewmen and others who have a personal defense requirement, such as law enforcement personnel, unit leaders and aviators. The Army is in the process of replacing the M9 with the M17 Modular Handgun System.
