Mission:
The Medical Equipment Set (MES) Forward Resuscitative and Surgical Detachment (FRSD) is a set of medical supplies and equipment that provides the necessary medical materiel to establish a rapidly deployable urgent initial surgical service forward in an Area of Operations (AO).

Description:
This assemblage contains the medical materiel necessary to provide continuous operations in conjunction with the supporting medical company for up to 72 hours. It provides for the urgent initial surgery for otherwise non-transportable patient and for emergency treatment to receive, triage and prepare incoming patients for surgery, provide the required surgery, and continues postoperative care for up to 30 critically wounded/injured patients over a 72-hour period. This set also provides for the postoperative acute nursing care for up to eight patient simultaneously prior to further patient evacuation.
