Army Mountaineering Equipment (AMK)

Mission:
The AMK provides teams, squads and platoons to operate in mountainous, rock, snow and ice-covered terrain the equipment necessary to negotiate steep and vertical terrain safely.

Description:
The High Angle Mountaineering Kit (HAMK), enables an Infantry Brigade Combat Team platoon of minimally trained Soldiers—operating in steep, vertical and near vertical terrain, void of ice and snow—to move over rope installations established by trained assault climbers.

The Assault Climber Team Kit (ACTK) enables trained assault climbers—operating in steep, vertical and near vertical terrain, void of ice and snow—to establish rope installations for minimally trained Soldiers.

The Snow and Ice Mobility Kit (SIMK) enables minimally trained Soldiers to move over steep, near vertical and vertical snow- and ice-covered terrain in conjunction with the HAMK and/or ACTK.

The Squad Mountain Leader Kit (SMLK) enables Special Forces Mountain Team-sized qualified Mountain Leaders to move over steep, near vertical and vertical earth, and rock-, snow- and ice-covered terrain.
