Mission:
Provides Pilots with color aircraft symbology during day or night missions.
Description:
Wide Color Night Display Module (WCNDM) The CHMD is part of the Helmet Display and Tracking System (HDTS). The CHMD provides a 22.5° x30° field of view, heads up display that takes symbology generated from the ASDC and presents it to the right eye of the pilot. The CHMD consists of a Wide Color Day Display Module (WCDDM) and the Wide Color Night Display Module (WCNDM). The WCDDM is used for day flights while the WCNDM is used for night flights. The WCDDM mounts to the ANVIS mount while the WCNDM replaces the right eye piece of the AN/AVS-6 goggle. The CHMD provides critical operational information superimposed as symbology onto the image the pilot sees through either the WCDDM or WCNDM. The CHMD minimizes the need for Pilots to examine cockpit instrument data, thus providing increased situational awareness outside the aircraft as they fly heads up and eyes out.
